Logansport Parks & Recreation is offering a new program called, “Growing Together,” an opportunity for parents with children ages six months to four years to help build developmental skills in their young children.

The purpose of the program is to work closely with parents as they help their child to:

  • Explore their senses;
  • Develop good communication skills;
  • Develop problem solving skills;
  • Build gross motor coordination;
  • Promote creativity through interactive physical activities combined with music.

This program will help young children to develop the underlying skills necessary to support whole body development such as:

  • Attention and alertness;
  • Body awareness;
  • Balance and coordination;
  • Strength and endurance;
  • Movement planning;

Class time will consist of four 15-minute intervals which will include:

  • Free exploratory play
  • Group led activities
  • Gross/fine motor station time
  • Story time

The program is designed for children six months to four years old. Each child is to be accompanied by 1 adult family member to the class to participate with the child during the program.  Class will meet for one hour once a week for 8 weeks. Cost will be $50.00 for 8 sessions or $10.00 a session. The first session is free for all! Classes are ongoing through the end of May.

Two times are available:

  • Day Class begins at 11:00 a.m.
  • Night Class begins at 6:00 p.m.

Instructors for this program are Cinda Milan and Becky Pear. Both instructors are licensed teachers with over 30 years teaching experience.
